Katie Norbie (see letter below about her return to Minnesota)

The time has come for me to return to the United States of America! After two years of service on board the MV Doulos I will fly back to Atlanta, Georgia on September 16th and debrief for a few days. I fly back to Minnesota on September 21st. I plan to spend a week alone with my family in Hancock and feel very blessed to be able to attend my brother’s wedding on September 27th.

I will be sharing about my time on Doulos for a few minutes in the Sunday morning service at Hope Community Church on September 28th. The church meets in the Minnewaska High School (Glenwood, MN) at 10:00 am, if anyone would like to hear in person what happened during my two years overseas. I will also be sharing at the Hancock EvFree Church on Monday, October 6th at 7pm to the community and area homeschoolers.

If any Minnesotans would like to meet with me and hear more personal details, I invite you to schedule an appointment with me sometime between October 1st and October 14th. Please write my mom (Cheryl Norbie- http://us.mc391.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=cmom4kt@yahoo.com) and she will have a calendar marked with my appointments. I am really looking forward to seeing Minnesotans again J I do realize that this is a busy time of year and please don’t feel that you need to make an effort to see me - I am only scheduling appointments so that I can be certain to meet with the people that really want to hear more about my time on Doulos. My schedule after October 14th needs to stay open because I will probably need to do some traveling to visit my supporters in other states.

Practical information - for those of you that are supporting me financially please make September you last month of support. As of October I am no longer part of Operation Mobilization and the funds will go towards the ship’s ministry. I want to thank all of you so much for your support - I couldn’t have the experiences that I do without your help! Thank you for being a big part of what God has done in my life.

Personal information - I have only seen a dentist once during my two years away J It might sound strange to you, but this is a concern for me. I don’t have the money for a check up and am no longer insured after September. If anyone is interested in helping me to “get on my feet again” you could send a financial gift for $?.?? in c/o my parents (Jeff & Cheryl Norbie/28876-387th Ave/Hancock, MN 56244). I will then be able to see if any major work needs to be done. I brushed and flossed every night so hopefully I am okay J A dental appointment is the only financial need that I have right now - God has blessed me with the ability to avoid debt! I might not have very many material things, but after living on a ship for two years I realized that I don’t need very much J

Future plans - I will be visiting supporters and spending time with my family this fall. I plan to help my sister, Marie, with Ministry Focused for a little while and look for some temporary work so that I am able to support myself. Some of you may have heard that I have been in contact with a family in Germany that is interested in having me nanny for them. I will not know until after Christmas if I have the job, but it is my plan (LORD willing) to earn enough money for a flight to Germany . I would either begin working for this family or visit some friends and look for a job elsewhere. This isn’t a sudden decision - I have prayed a lot about it. I trust that God will continue to guide and provide J

Thank you again for all of your prayers, letters, support and love! I look forward to September 21st J Until then…

Sincerely,

Katie Helen Norbie
